Throw your brushes in the sink
Rinse them with water
Plug the sink, fill with water and liquid body wash or shampoo, I like to use baby shampoo but really anything that lathers will do
I start with the large brushes and wash a few at time
Wash and Rinse
Squeeze all the access water out
Shape it back into the shape of the brush
Lay flat to dry
For the brushes that hold liquid product in them such as foundation, concealer, lipstick, etc..... I gather them from out of the sink and wash them with more liquid soap
If it has dark product, such as liquid eyeliner and dark shadow....I do the same... wash them together so you don't stain your other brushes
Lay them all flat
Lay another towel on top or wipe the water off the handles of the brush because wood chips over time
Viola!

such a good/useful post. thanks Lina ;]
Yay! Thanks so much, Lina! You're awesome!
Lina I'm glad you posted this! It's always great to get hygienic tips from an actual legit make-up artist and not just some random girl on youtube who likes makeup.
I don't soak my brushes in the sink because the glue will loosen from the ferrule and the bristles will shed. I wash them by hand, it's annoying because its time consuming but it keeps my brushes in great condition for years of use! Try laying the brushes off a counter or table so the air hits them from all sides-they dry so much quicker. Dryer the handles off is a great tip!
Thanks for the helpful tips!!!! Question tho, I was told you should be careful when cleaning brushes, not to get the metal part that hold the bristles wet because it will loosen the glue. Is this true? Thanks
I've been told that if you let water reach the base of the brush, where it meets the handle, it will end up rotting away and ruin the bristles. Is that true?
